Domestic Violence Awareness Month
With October being Domestic Violence Awareness Month our thoughts turn to the many brave women who have gotten out of an abusive relationship. With the help of a shelter, these courageous women, knowing they were in violent, life threatening situations, got out.
These shelters not only provide a place to sleep they provide empowerment for women to make changes and offer them hope and to start a new life. A new life without fear.
Once these women begin living on their own and supporting their children, many want added protection. Some women want their home equipped with an alarm system and others feel safe knowing they are living in an apartment with a security service and for others, the added protection has been known to come from a four-legged friend. German shepherd family protection dogs are a master at protection. Any woman will feel a great ease knowing her pet is there to help and offer protection to her and any member of her family if she needs him.
If you or someone you know is in an abusive relationship and feels there is nowhere to turn, please contact your local women’s shelter. These shelters will not only provide you a safe haven, they will help you on your way out of your situation and into a fearless life.
