Young families and puppies
Many young families will buy a puppy just after having a baby, so that puppy and baby can grow up together. This has both benefits and pitfalls. Puppies are a great deal like children. Adding a puppy to a new family is like adding another child. This can occasionally feel overwhelming to a couple that has recently welcomed an infant into the world. Now they have multiple children to juggle! It is almost always advisable to look for an adult dog to become part of a young family. Trained German Shepherds, especially those that were socialized around children or families, make excellent first pets.
Due to their undying devotion, loyalty, and intelligence, German Shepherds often function as great family guard dogs or protection dogs. They have been known to view children as members of their family, in much the same way they would a puppy, and will actively keep them from harm or herd them away from danger. These protective qualities make them ideal pets for families with young children. If you are considering adding a dog to your new family, consider purchasing a fully-trained adult German Shepherd and give your family peace of mind.
